When to use Pontam?

Many women report that traditional tampons worsen their abdominal pain during their periods. Tampons often feel hard and uncomfortable, causing the vagina to cramp additionally. With PONTAMS®, it's entirely different: they are ultra-soft and perfectly conform to your vagina.

Traditional tampons not only absorb blood but also natural moisture, drying out your vagina. However, PONTAMS® are inserted moist, helping maintain the natural moisture balance of your vagina.

A half-dry tampon can be uncomfortable to remove. When your period is lighter towards the end, naturally moistened PONTAMS® are the best choice to prevent your vagina from drying out.

Conventional tampons can sometimes be bothersome during sports or bathing. With movement, you might feel your tampon or find the string too long. PONTAMS®, being so soft, make you almost forget you're wearing them, and their cotton loop is deliberately short.

Sex during your period is now possible even with a tampon. PONTAMS® are so soft that your partner won't notice them, and you won't have to worry about bloodstains on the fresh bedding.

Patients experiencing pain (including endometriosis) often cannot use regular tampons due to severe discomfort. The soft PONTAMS® provide relief and offer greater comfort when worn.

  1. Wash hands and unwrap the soft tampon.
  2. Soak the soft tampon in warm water for about 10 seconds.
  3. Squeeze it well, ensuring the soft tampon is damp but not wet.
  4. With two fingers, compress and insert it, pushing it upward with one finger. The cotton loop should protrude slightly from your vagina.
  5. Remove it after a maximum of 8 hours with clean hands. Rinse it first with cold water (to prevent blood from coagulating), then warm water, and reuse it for up to 3 days or dispose of it.

FAQ

You can wear us for a maximum of 8 hours. Then you wash us first with cold water (to prevent blood from clotting), then warm water, and you can reuse us for up to 3 days. After sex or bathing, you should change us immediately to avoid infections. Don't forget to remove the previously inserted soft tampon before inserting a new one and at the end of your period.

Most of the time, you can easily pull us out using the short retrieval string or your fingers. If we've shifted a bit deeper into the vagina, for example, after sex, you can squat with legs apart and relax to remove us more easily. We can't disappear inside your vagina, so you'll be able to remove us in any case. If you ever have real difficulty removing us, please consult your gynecologist.

After a maximum of 8 hours, you can remove the soft tampon with clean hands and rinse it first in cold water. This step is important so that the blood does not clot. Then, you can rinse it briefly again with warm or hot water.

Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) is a very rare but potentially life-threatening condition that can occur with the use of tampons. Symptoms can suddenly appear and resemble those of the flu: fever of 39°C (102°F) or higher, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, fainting, and/or a sunburn-like rash. If you notice any of the above symptoms, remove your tampon immediately and seek medical attention. Be sure to inform the healthcare provider that you are menstruating and have been using a tampon. TSS can be life-threatening and requires early detection and treatment.
